The CLICKSET set master models allow for a high degree of flexibility
for designing stone in wax master models. CLICKSET master settings are
manufactured to high tolerances and they have been fully tested on a
large variety of metal alloys to ensure that shrinkages are correct
and that stones are secure after casting. CLICKSET settings are manufactured
in 925 silver so that the metal can be worked easily by the master model
maker/designer.
Suggested modification techniques for designing with CLICKSET™:
- Change the exterior of the CLICKSET model via filing and shaping
the wall from the outside
- Round edges or modify angles of the CLICKSET master
- Taper the exterior walls of the CLICKSET to customize the style
and shape
- Pierce the CLICKSET anywhere below the CLICKSET seat tabs to form
filigree or bridge work style masters.
- Combine CLICKSETS together and shape them on the exterior to blend
into one master model
- Assemble CLICKSETS together at various heights to create different
style variations for a master model.
- For prong style CLICKSETS shape the exterior areas of the prongs
for customization of design. Round or shape the tips of the prongs
to suite your design ideas.
Designing note: Do not change any of the interior portions of the CLICKSET
where the nib seats are or above that area that will accommodate the
seating of a stone. For prong style CLICKSET do not modify the interior
portion of the prong seat or prong as this area has been designed to
tight tolerances for specific stone sizes. Also, it is not advised to
change the opening size of the top of any bezel or flush style click
set models as this top inside area hold the crown of the stone in place,
modification can cause the stone to not be held securely or fall through
the model once set in wax.

Molding CLICKSET™ masters:
The CLICKSET masters are designed so that once they have been modified
as desired then, they could be molded using an organic mold rubber with
3-4% shrinkage. The masters have the shrinkage built in for standard
mold rubbers as well as the injection wax shrinkage so, once the master
model is finished and polished then mold the master. This mold will
become your master mold for CLICKSET waxes.
Injecting using the CLICKSET™ master mold:
It is recommended that you use a good quality wax with elasticity that
will allow the stones to be clicked into place in the wax pattern. SRS
recommends the 863 Pink injection wax for optimum performance. Once
a wax pattern has been shot into the mold and pulled allow the wax pattern
to cool to room temperature. Before setting any stones in the wax. If
the wax is not allowed to cool then it will deform when the stones are
clicked into place and not return to its original shape, always set
stones at room temperature.
Inspect all wax patterns making sure that they are completely filled
with out defects, flashing and fining inside of the CLICKSET wax pattern
may translate to metal and break a set stone in the casting process.
Be very particular and use only high quality injected wax patterns for
stone in wax setting for the best quality results. Preparation is critical
to good stone in wax results.
Avoid fluctuations in room temperature when handling set wax patterns.
Changes in temperature, particularly at night and in the winter will
cause wax to shrink and this will effect the ability to set stones into
the wax patterns. Use the day’s production of wax patterns the
same day for best results for stone in wax setting.

Stone selection for CLICKSET™:
Use good quality stones, which are of a consistent size for stone in
wax setting into CLICKSET. CLICKSET™ masters are engineered to
close tolerances and will not always accept variation in stone sizes.
Out of calibration over sized stones can set in the wax however, heat
and pressure from the casting process can crack or break the stones
later in the process costing money in lost production and set up time.
Choose to use quality-calibrated stones for the best results with CLICKSET.
Choose the right stones for the best results for stone in wax setting
casting; Smaller diamonds, quality CZ, corundum like Sapphire and Ruby,
synthetic or simulated stones (test blues and greens for color changes),
created and lab-grown Ruby, Sapphire & Emeralds.
Further precautions in using CLICKSET™:
Do not bend the CLICKSET master settings in any way, this will result
in distortion of the pre-cut seats and stones may not fit into the wax
patterns securely.
Do not use any additional wax to secure stones into CLICKSET wax patterns.
Excessively heated hot wax additions may cause wax to “flood”
across the back of the stone causing discoloration of the stone after
casting.
